Superseding a part (the correct way)
Within Stock Management you will find a Supersede Stock Line function. This is used to transfer certain data values from the old part to the new part. The old part is flagged as superseded (Re-order category S), updated with the new part number, and a movement line written if the quantity is transferred. The new part number is updated with the old number and a movement line written if the quantity is transferred. During the supersession process, a number of options may be ticked or unticked depending on the requirement.
A correctly superseded part
The incorrect process is to update the old and new part number with the superseded from and superseded to part number. Some important data transfer will not take place.
