How to create and use, plus understanding the difference between the two.
In Autoline it is possible to create a Kit or Assembly from a group of individual parts to sell as one unit, however, there is a difference between a Kit and Assembly
- A Kit is a non-balance stock item (similar to Freight part number) which acts as a trigger to sell the components of the Kit. In Point of Sale, enter in the Kit part number. This will explode into the components of the kit which get sold individually
- An Assembly is a stock balance item made up of various components. The parts that make up the Assembly are removed from stock and added to the Assembly part number through the function, Make and Break Assemblies. In point of sale, the single part number for the Assembly is sold and the stock of the Assembly reduced by one.
Before creating the Kit or Assembly, the part number must exist in the Stock file. From there, the Kit or Assembly can be created through Stock Management, Assemblies & Kits, Add/Modify Assemblies. Once a Kit has been created, it is ready for use in Point of Sale. For an Assembly, one extra step is required to "Make" the Assembly which draws on existing stock.
