If you do not want a vehicle record in your database, you can flag it for deletion and it will be permanently removed from the database at the end of the week. The service history linked to the vehicle will also be deleted.

Vehicle records are marked for deletion in the two Record Status fields on the left-hand side of the Current tab, in the Progress area.

Within the first Status field use the drop down arrow to select the ‘^’ symbol for DELETE VEHICLE.

In the second Status field use the drop down arrow to select the ‘X’ for Marked for Deletion. The second field checks for any remaining links to other records and will not let you continue without these links being detached.

The service history file will also be deleted.

Notes

Vehicle records cannot be flagged for deletion if any links to Customer records exist.

A report is available to transfer service history from one vehicle to another (on the Database Cleansing Menu) in the case where duplicate vehicles have been created. This report should be run before the duplicate vehicle is flagged for deletion.

All forms of identification should be removed, i.e. the Registration number and Chassis number fields should be cleared of input, and the word Delete typed in the Registration no. field.
